Dissecting the Bachelor
Ok, I admit I've been watching lotsa 'trashy' shows like the Bachelor, Biggest Loser, My Name is Earl, American Idol,... since coming to the states. Well, what do you expect from someone who knocks off at 420 and get back to this apartment by 445. Even after a workout and dinner, there's still plenty of time to while away so what to do watch tee bee lor. :P
Today was the finale of the Bachelor in Paris, where the doctor Travis finally made his choice between Sarah and Moana. Well, the clever doctor picked the kindergarten teacher Sarah as expected. I was secretly rooting for Moana but on hindsight I think it was all for the better, think she deserves better than the cockster loctor. Something she mentioned while heartbroken and in tears as she was going away in the limousine struck me, "Guys will never marry girls like me". I think Travis was making a "safe" choice in choosing the kindergarten teacher, giving Moana a pass perhaps because the flame that burns the brightest burns the shortest? And also Moana couldn't really connect with his family. She has a knack of breaking into tears whenever someone asks her a difficult question about Travis, the type about what do you like about him? To me I think there's no explanation for everything, why must people ask these question expecting an answer? To me there's not always a nice answer in words to such things, you feel what you feel and that's what that matters, if there exists a connection then I guess the other person will know. Of course there's also people who're really smooth talkers but that's besies the point....
Back to the show, throughout the series Moana was the aloof and super bo chap person that nobody (including myself) liked. But as the show evolved, she started opening herself up and seeing her get the heart emotionally trashed tonight was quite sad. I swear I can almost feel her pain. For people like her who does not open up or warm up to people fast, I think the pain of rejection is quadrupled. Somehow these 'reality' shows have gotten a tad bit too cruel for me, think I'll give next season of the Bachelor/Bachelorette a pass. Let's hope Moana can find a guy who can truly appreciate who she is.... and all the best to the clever doctor who picked the teacher. o O
